Jose Mourinho to face no FA action over Manchester derby comments
Jose Mourinho will not face action from the FA over comments he made to the media before the Manchester derby earlier this month.
Mourinho warned referee Michael Oliver to be aware of City’s „tactical fouling“ ahead of the derby on December 10 and also claimed that Pep Guardiola’s side go to ground too easily, saying: „A little bit of wind and they fall.“
Manchester United went on to lose the match 2-1, a result which sent Manchester City 11 points clear of their rivals at the top of the Premier League.
A statement released by the FA read: „Following a review of the evidence provided by the club, The FA will be taking no formal action, but have reminded Jose Mourinho any further public comments about match officials may result in disciplinary action.“
The FA also confirmed that they will be taking no formal action against United or City over the tunnel altercation which marred the aftermath of the derby.
Mourinho became embroiled in a row with City goalkeeper Ederson after the United manager voiced his disapproval at the visiting team’s post-match celebrations.
The Portuguese had a carton of milk thrown towards him from inside the dressing room which hit one of his backroom staff, Sky sources understand.
Both clubs were subsequently asked for their observations of what enfolded by the FA, which has now decided against enforcing any punishment.
A statement from the FA said: „Following a review of the evidence provided by the clubs and independent eyewitnesses The FA will be taking no formal action.“
