AC Milan continues negotiations to renew the contract of defender Theo Hernandez
AC Milan continues negotiations to renew the contract of defender Theo Hernandez. Although the Frenchman’s name was involved in a small scandal during the Lazio match when he did not go to receive instructions from the coach during a water break, the club do not seem to be too bothered by the incident. Hernandez remains a key figure in the Rossoneri’s plans for the future.
Although his current contract runs until 2026, Milan’s management are keen to extend it by another two or three years. In addition, Hernandez will receive a significant increase in his salary. He currently earns 4 million euros a year, but the new contract could see his remuneration rise to 8 million euros per season. This will make him the highest-paid player in the squad, ahead of even star Rafael Leao, who receives €6m plus €1m in bonuses.
Milan management expects Hernandez to improve his performance and regain his best form. He has been criticized for some of the games since the start of the season, including the 2-1 loss to Parma.
The Frenchman joined Milan from Real Madrid in 2019 and quickly established himself as a leader in the squad. So far, he has recorded 216 matches in which he scored 29 goals and made 39 assists, becoming one of the main players of the team.
