Liverpool are gearing up for a big transfer move next summer, with the club having made contact with representatives of Aurelien Chuameni, who currently plays for Real Madrid. According to British media, including the Express, the Merseysiders will once again try to lure the
Frenchman after their interest in him has not disappeared despite his move to the Madrid club not long ago.
Liverpool’s interest in Chuameni is not new. Even before he joined Real Madrid, the English team tried to sign him, but in the end he chose the Spanish giants. However, the Merseysiders are not giving up and are planning a new push in the summer of 2024, when the transfer fee for the 23-year-old could be around £50m.
Real Madrid do not appear averse to parting ways with Chuameni if they can bring in new players, with the club rumored to have ambitions to target the signing of Ballon d’Or winner Rodri from Manchester City. As a second option, Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea is also included in the plans of Madrid.
Liverpool manager Arne Slott and his team see Chuameni as an ideal player for the defensive midfield position in the team’s current system. At the moment, Ryan Gravenberch fills that role, but Liverpool continue to look for a way to strengthen the midfield. Last summer they tried to sign Martin Subimendi from Real Sociedad, but the player chose to stay in Spain.
Chuameni, who has signed a contract with Real Madrid until 2028, has made 15 appearances this season and has been a regular part of the Whites’ starting line-up. The expectation is that interest in him will continue to grow, and Liverpool will do everything possible to attract him to their ranks in the summer.
