Jordan Henderson says Liverpool have the „hunger“ to emulate Premier League rivals Manchester City by winning multiple trophies.
Liverpool defeated Tottenham 2-0 in the Champions League final in Madrid on Saturday to win the first trophy of Jurgen Klopp’s tenure.
Manchester City, who also won the FA Cup and League Cup to win a historic domestic treble, finished one point ahead of Liverpool after a thrilling Premier League campaign as Klopp’s side fell just short of their first league title in 29 years.
Henderson, who joins two-time winner Emlyn Hughes, Phil Thompson, Graeme Souness and Steven Gerrard as a Liverpool captain to lift a European Cup, says the club will use the success as a springboard for further honours.
Asked what the next step is for Liverpool, Henderson told Sky Sports News: „Football moves quickly and we will go again and keep wanting more.
„[To] show that desire to keep wanting to improve and want more trophies. That is what we have got to do.
„Before this game I said [Manchester] City don’t just win one [but] two or three trophies.
„That is what we are trying to aim for and I know in this group we want to do that. We are young enough to stay together and hopefully we can do that for a long period of time.“
Klopp had lost his previous six cup finals as a manager and Henderson says the victory was reward for the impact the German has brought at Anfield.
„Without him this is impossible. He will take all of the credit and rightly so because what he has created at this football club is amazing,“ Henderson said.
„This team he has created, the atmosphere he is creating. The connection with the fans is unbelievable so all the praise goes to him.“

James Milner believes Liverpool’s squad togetherness proved vital in their ability to respond to the heartache of losing to Real Madrid in last year’s Champions League final and the pain of coming short of the domestic league title.
