Robertson open to Celtic finale
Robertson open to Celtic finale. Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson has revealed that although he wants to retire at the Merseyside club, he would not rule out joining Celtic before he calls time on his playing career.
Scotsman Robertson impressed in his home country with Queen’s Park and Dundee United before securing a move to Hull City in 2014 but joined Liverpool for only £8million three years later after the Tigers were relegated from the Premier League.
The marauding left-back has gone on to become a crucial part of a Liverpool side who won the Champions League last season, beating Tottenham 2-0 in the final, and are 25 points clear at the top of this term’s Premier League.
Since joining the Reds. Robertson has been named captain of the Scottish national team, earning 34 caps and scoring three times for his country.
Robertson signed a new deal with Liverpool in January last year, with his contract running until 2024, and insists he wants to see out his career at Anfield.
But, as a boyhood Celtic fan, he has also hinted at a potential move to Parkhead in future if he can no longer cut it in the Premier League.
Speaking on That Peter Crouch Podcast, he said: „If you asked me now what I’d want to do, I’d love to retire at Liverpool of course, but you know how hard it is to play at the highest of levels until you’re 35-36. I’d love to pull on the Celtic top and walk out at Parkhead.
