Dugarry – Pogba perfect for Real. Former France international Christophe Dugarry believes compatriot and Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba would be an ideal fit for Real Madrid.
World Cup-winning midfielder Pogba was signed by United, where he spent part of his youth career, from Juventus for a then world-record fee of €105 million at the start of the 2016/17 campaign.
He made 51 appearances across all competitions, contributing nine goals, in his first season at Old Trafford, winning the EFL Cup and Europa League.
However, his form has fluctuated ever since and the four-time Serie A winner has been regularly linked with a big-money move away from the club.
Real Madrid, once again under the stewardship of Frenchman Zinedine Zidane, have emerged as prime candidates to land the 27-year-old.
The likes of Luka Madrid and Toni Kroos, who were key components of the side who secured a hat-trick of Champions League titles between 2016 and 2018, approaching the latter stages of their careers.
And Dugarry, who played for Marseille and Barcelona among others during his career, thinks the move would suit both parties.
„We have all observed that this [Real squad] is ageing a little,“ he told RMC Sport. „It is [a team] that has problems projecting, breaking lines and reaching the second line when there are centres.
„Pogba can do it. He is a boy who can score goals. For me, he is the ideal boy to give Real Madrid what is missing.
„Knowing Zizou, if he was in love with Pogba, there is no reason for him to be gone a year later.“
