European Paper Talk: Juventus target Liverpool’s Emre Can
The summer transfer window is in full flow and clubs across Europe are making moves as they look to piece together the squad they need in time for the start of the season.
Our friends at Football Whispers have scoured the continental media for the latest news and transfer rumours.
Italy
Juventus are desperate to add physicality to their midfield and are looking to the Premier League with this in mind. Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic and Liverpool’s Emre Can are both targets for the Italian champions, though Paris Saint-Germain’s Blaise Matuidi could also be under consideration. (Corriere dello Sport)
Having already made seven big-name signings, AC Milan’s revolution could continue with the arrival of Renato Sanches. The 19-year-old Portuguese sensation endured a difficult debut year with Bayern Munich and the German champions’ chairman, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, has stated: „I confirm the interest of Milan for Renato Sanches but we have not come to any agreement.“ (Gazzetta dello Sport)
Keita Balde Diao’s decision to take a day off in Milan has, rather predictably, fuelled speculation linking him with a move away from Lazio. The Senegal forward is rumoured to be an Inter Milan transfer target, with a €22million deal purportedly in the offing. (Mediaset Premium)
Spain
Manchester United target Alvaro Morata may still exit Real Madrid this summer despite United signing Romelu Lukaku instead of him. However, his destination may be the San Siro instead of Old Trafford. AC Milan remain interested in the striker and could make a move for him as they continue to strengthen their squad for the season ahead. (Marca)
Another Real Madrid star, Gareth Bale, has been linked to Manchester United in recent weeks. However, the Welshman has openly stated that he expects to remain in the Spanish capital, saying: „I signed a long contract…and I am happy [at] this club.“ (Marca)
Having already secured the signature of Roque Mesa, Swansea City could return to Las Palmas to buy another player, Jonathan Viera. However, the Spanish side will not let the midfielder leave easily, having reportedly rejected a €25million offer. Swansea will likely have to pay the €30million release clause to force through a deal. (Marca)
France
Following Paris Saint-Germain’s capture of former Manchester City transfer target Dani Alves, Serge Aurier could be set to leave the French giants. The Ivorian right-back was left out of the club’s upcoming pre-season tour squad, meaning a move to Manchester United could be on the cards. (L’Equipe)
Arsenal transfer target Riyad Mahrez could instead be on his way to Italy. The Leicester City winger, who had an underwhelming 2016/17 campaign, is seen as one of Roma’s priority targets for this summer, the Italian side’s first transfer window with Monchi as director of football. (France Football)
Germany
Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez is not a Bayern Munich transfer target, as had been thought previously. Speaking about the forward’s future, the German club’s chairman, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, said: „We are no longer involved.“ (Kicker)Soccer Accumulator Bonus
