Goalkeeper Freddie Woodman has penned a heart-warming handwritten letter to the England U20 kit-man following their stunning World Cup win.
The 20-year-old Newcastle goalkeeper picked up the Golden Glove award for his heroics during last month’s tournament, which saw him save a second-half penalty in England’s 1-0 win over Venezuela in the final.
Woodman – the godson of England boss Gareth Southgate – wrote to kit-man Pat Frost thanking him and the rest of the England U20 support staff for the role they played in the Young Lions’ triumph in South Korea.
Affectionately referring to Frost as ‘The Football Man’, Woodman wrote: „I would like to take the time to appreciate the help and support you gave me during our time away.
„I’d like to thank you for the time, effort and hard work you and the rest of the staff put in to help us achieve our goal.
„To share winning the World Cup with you and this team is a great honour.
„Your quality of work, love for football and ability to light up a room Frosty is something that will stay with me for a long time“
Woodman’s gesture was clearly appreciated by Frost, who posted a photo of the letter on social media, adding: „You can have all the medals in the world but this beats winning more than anything else…thank you Freddie Woodman.“
