Harry Redknapp or another veteran could get Leicester job, says Tony Cottee
Former Leicester forward Tony Cottee says the club may look to appoint an experienced manager such as Harry Redknapp on an interim basis until the end of the season.
The Foxes have a vacancy after dismissing Claude Puel on Sunday morning, following a run of six defeats in seven games.
First-team coaches Mike Stowell and Adam Sadler are set to be in charge for the visit of Brighton on Tuesday, while Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has been mentioned as a contender to replace Puel on a permanent basis.
However, Cottee thinks Leicester may bring in a temporary boss to keep them clear of the drop zone – they are currently 12th, eight points clear of the bottom three.
Asked who might be in the frame at Leicester, Cottee told Sky Sports: „I am sure we will have all the usual names thrown into the hat.
„The good news is, from Leicester’s point of view, that they are not really in the relegation fight.
„They have got 32 points, so they probably need another win. This season 35, 36 points might be enough to stay up.
„It has been such a traumatic season for the club, with all the events off the field (owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha died in a helicopter crash in October).
„They just need to take their time and make sure they appoint the right manager.
„Maybe get someone in on an interim basis. Off the top of my head, someone like Harry Redknapp for example, someone who is a good, experienced manager that can get a few results.
„Then appoint a man for the future, at the end of the season.“
