Henderson proud of ‘incredible’ Liverpool. Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has hailed the performance of his teammates as they close in on a first ever Premier League crown following 30 years of title heartbreak.
The England midfielder joined Liverpool from Sunderland for £16million in 2011 and is regarded as one of the club’s most important assets having racked up 264 appearances.
During his nine-year tenure at Anfield, Henderson has regularly shown his leadership qualities and was promoted to captain following the retirement of club icon Steven Gerrard in June 2015.
Henderson has become the cog in Liverpool’s midfield and last season helped them secure Champions League success with victory over Tottenham at Atletico Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano.
Jurgen Klopp’s Reds have gone from strength to strength since conquering Europe and with nine games remaining of the current Premier League campaign. The Merseysiders sit 25 points clear of reigning champions Manchester City.
Having suffered just one league defeat all season, the title that has evaded them for so long is all but Liverpool’s and Henderson has been full of praise for his Anfield pals.
Speaking to Liverpool’s official website, Henderson said. „I’ve actually looked back a little bit more in terms of the season and actually what we’ve achieved so far is incredible really, as a team.
„I think everybody I’m sure would agree that it’s been an incredible season so far. How we perform each and every game. Bar maybe one or two. The levels of performance have been so high and so good in different ways throughout the season.“
