Ighalo extends Old Trafford loan. Manchester United have confirmed that they have come to an agreement with Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua to extend Odion Ighalo’s loan deal at Old Trafford.
Ighalo will remain at United until the end of January 2021, having scored four goals in eight appearances in all competitions since he arrived at the club this winter.
The Nigeria international has struck in each of his last three starts for the Red Devils, finding the net against Club Brugge and LASK in the Europa League and scoring a brace in the 3-0 FA Cup fifth round victory over Derby.
Ighalo’s strike against LASK won the club’s Goal of the Month award for March and he will be aiming to fire United to a successful conclusion to the 2019-20 season.
As well as reaching the last 16 of the Europa League, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side face a trip to Norwich in the FA Cup quarter-finals, and they are fifth in the Premier League, just three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
Solskjaer is delighted to have boosted his attacking options by securing the services of Ighalo until next season’s January window.
The United manager told MUTV: „Shanghai Shenhua have been great towards us, allowing him to play for his dream club. It’s been a dream for him and hopefully he can finish what he started and win a trophy with us.“
