Klopp urges Reds to deliver
Klopp urges Reds to deliver. Jurgen Klopp has urged his Liverpool players not to show any mercy as they bid to seal Premier League glory.
The Reds last won the league title 30 years ago and were pipped at the post by Manchester City on the final day of the 2018-19 season.
However, Klopp’s men have been the Premier League’s outstanding side in the current campaign and lead the Citizens by 25 points with nine matches still to play.
While City have a game in hand, Liverpool have dropped just five points all season and look set to secure their first title of the Premier League era in the coming weeks.
The Reds, who were unbeaten in the Premier League before suffering a 3-0 loss at Watford in February, require just six points from their remaining matches to put the title race beyond mathematical doubt.
Klopp joined the Merseyside club from Borussia Dortmund in 2015 and led them to Champions League glory last season.
However, he is not ready to celebrate an English league title just yet.
„We know we are close but close is not there. There are 27 points left for us and we will try everything to take them all,“ Klopp told the BBC.
„We are still not champions. We have to play football games and we have to win them.“
He added: „We don’t want to stop winning after two games or whatever it is. I don’t see results written in the stars; we have to work really hard.“
