Leclaire has nothing against Vettel
Leclaire has nothing against Vettel. The prospective Ferrari pilot insists he would be happy to continue working with the four-time world champion.
Charles Leclaire stressed that there was nothing against Sebastian Vettel staying in Ferrari, despite the friction between the two teammates last season. Vettel’s current contract expires at the end of the year and it is not yet clear if he will receive a new contract.
Last season, Leclaire finished fourth in the pilot standings, 24 points ahead of Vettel, who finished fifth. The young Monegasque was significantly more permanent than his German counterpart, recording more wins, half-points, points and podium climbs.
As a result, 22-year-old Leclaire was rewarded with a new contract by 2024, with Ferrari seeing a bright future in him. The competitor himself does not intend to „play second fiddle“ to anyone, including Vettel, who has four world titles in his collection from his glittering Red Bull period between 2010 and 2013.
„I’m very happy with Seb. Our relationship is good, though we had some problems last season on the runway, such as in Brazil. I think our relationship has always been good, although it certainly doesn’t look that way. I still will „I respect Ferrari’s decision, because after all, it’s my job to adapt to the person next to me. You can always learn something from your teammate,“ Leclaire said during a virtual press conference.
