Leeds United confirm repurchase of Elland Road
Leeds United have announced the club has repurchased Elland Road.
Leeds sold their stadium in 2004 for £8m to Manchester businessman Jacob Adler during the club’s financial crisis, with a 25-year lease and a buyback clause.
The stadium, which has a 37,890 capacity, was subsequently sold by Adler to British Virgin Islands-based Teak Trading Corporation the following year.
Italian Andrea Radrizzani completed a full takeover of Leeds from Massimo Cellino last month after buying 50 per cent of the club’s shares in January.
Radrizzani assured Leeds fans the club would be „doing all we can to build a successful team at Elland Road“ and repurchasing the ground is seen as a key step in that process.
A statement from Leeds said: „Leeds United Football Club is delighted to announce that Greenfield Investment Pte Ltd, the Aser Group Holding company and parent company of Leeds United Football Club, has completed the purchase of Elland Road Stadium.
„The agreement concludes a successful negotiation process with Teak Commercial Limited, the landlord, and achieves what owner Andrea Radrizzani had set out as a top priority in allowing the Championship club to buy back its stadium following the completion of Radrizzani’s takeover of the club from Massimo Cellino.“
Radrizzani added: „Today is an important day in our history and a proud day for me and my team. When I met with management and supporters during my first few months at the club the purchase of Elland Road was very high on their list of priorities and I’m delighted to be able to announce that we have completed that process today.“Soccer Accumulator Bonus
