Ludogorets have offloaded defender Gonzalo Avila to Spain’s Burgos
Ludogorets have offloaded defender Gonzalo Avila to Spain’s Burgos, with the deal officially finalized on Friday. The Spanish defender, known by the nickname Pipa, will join the La Liga 2 side and is expected to make his official debut for his new club soon.
Avila will play for Burgos on loan until June 30, 2025, with an option to buy the player included in the contract. This is his second relegation in the last year.
Last summer, Pippa was sent on loan to England’s West Bromwich Albion, where he made 18 Championship appearances, showing steady play on the right wing.
In February 2023, Ludogorets signed Pipa from Greek side Olympiakos, as he was expected to strengthen the defense of the Bulgarian champions. During the 2022/2023 season, Avila played 20 games for the Eagles in all competitions, contributing to the team’s success. With Ludogorets, Pipa won both the Bulgarian Championship and the Bulgarian Cup, adding these honors to his career.
Pippa now heads to a new challenge in Burgos where he will look to make his mark and help the Spanish side in their ambitions to do better in La Liga 2.
