Manchester United transfer news and rumours: Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Alvaro Morata, Wayne Rooney and Andrea Belotti
All the latest Manchester United transfer news and rumours from across the British and European press on Friday, June 9.
Manchester United are unlikely to offer Zlatan Ibrahimovic a contract extension, according to Sky sources.
United have the option of exercising a 12-month extension to Ibrahimovic’s one-year deal, which is up at the end of the month.
But despite the 35-year-old’s preference to remain at Old Trafford, sources say his name is likely to be on the club’s list of released players to be published by the Premier League on Friday.
As one striker looks set to leave, another could be on the way in as United will make a take-it-or-leave bid of £60m for Real Madrid ace Alvaro Morata, according to the Daily Star.
The newspaper says that United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward will not be held to ransom by the Real hierarchy, who could make life difficult for the Premier League club over their refusal to sell David de Gea.
The striker’s agent has also waded into the ongoing transfer saga, saying that Morata wants a bigger role and he could not confirm if he would stay with Real Madrid.
„Alvaro is a player who wants to play a more important role,“ agent Juanma Lopez told French outlet Foot Mercato. „He wants to play more. Which is normal for an attacker who has scored 19 goals. It is too little.
„I do not know [if he will stay at Real]. This has been a brilliant for Real Madrid who have won many titles. The player will take a clear and definitive decision in the coming days. I have not yet met with the representatives from Real Madrid.“
The Daily Mail reports that Wayne Rooney is giving serious consideration to seeing out the rest of his contract at Manchester United.
The striker’s future has been thrown into question after a lack of game time at Old Trafford last season and he has a year left on his contract with the option of a further 12 months.
Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport also claims that United and AC Milan are in a tug of war over Torino striker Andrea Belotti.
The Serie A club have already had a £39m bid turned down for the Italy international, according to Sky in Italy, with the fee expected to rise to around £60m should he make a move.
