Phil Neville compares sister Tracey to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp

England Women manager Phil Neville insists his sister Tracey, head coach of England’s Netball team, is a sporting replica of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

Twins Tracey and Phil will take England teams to their respective World Cups this summer.

Phil takes the Lionesses to the football World Cup in France in June as one of the pre-tournament favourites, while Tracey’s side will compete in the 2019 Netball World Cup in Liverpool on the back of their gold medal success at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Phil believes a big factor in his sister’s success as a head coach is her Klopp-like charisma.

„If I was comparing her to a Premier League manager, let’s say, I would say that she (Tracey) is Klopp,“ Phil told Sportswomen.

„That person you look at on the touchline and think ‘I would love to play for that manager’.“

Phil went on to explain England’s Netball gold medal at last year’s Commonwealth Games was his „proudest moment in sport“, despite his major honours under Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.

Tracey Neville’s Red Roses are also one of the teams expected to go far at the Netball World Cup in Liverpool this July, woth every game live on Sky Sports.

When discussing his own challenges in management, the Lionesses’ boss Phil revealed how he dreads having to name his starting line-up 24 hours before a matchday.

„Selection is the most difficult,“ he said. „Matchday minus one when I name the team is the only day of the week that I dread.

„Eleven of my players are gutted, devastated and emotional. I do find it hard because you genuinely do care about every one of them.“

Phil Neville selects his squad for the FIFA World Cup this week, with Izzy Christiansen’s fitness his biggest concern.

The Lyon midfielder hasn’t played since ankle surgery in March but is being given every opportunity to prove her fitness ahead of the first group game on June 9 against Scotland.
