Ramsey too good for bench role
Ramsey too good for bench role. Former Wales boss Chris Coleman says Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey is too good to be sitting on the bench anywhere.
Ramsey left Arsenal last summer after eight-and-a-half-years to join Juve on a free transfer but has struggled to find his best form in Turin and has only made nine Serie A starts to date.
Injuries have hampered his progress in Italy but he is sure to have a role to play in the run-in at both home and abroad.
The 29-year-old has been linked with a return to the Premier League this summer, with Manchester United among the clubs said to be interested.
Coleman thinks he would fit in well at Old Trafford and has urged his compatriot not to get left behind in Italy.
The former Wales boss told beIN Sports: „I understand why he went to Juventus, obviously a great club, they’ve got a great chance of winning the league. But he wants to be in the starting XI, that’s where he needs to be. And in my opinion he’s good enough to be there. I don’t know why he’s not in the starting XI.
„If it’s not going to happen for him, he’s definitely the type of player that could handle playing for Manchester United.
„When you’re playing for a big club you’ve got to be able to handle that week in, week out. And he’s certainly got the appetite for that.“
Coleman knows Ramsey well from his time in charge of Wales and he was a key part of the side that made it all the way to the semi-finals of Euro 2016.
