Recovering Pereira feeling stronger
Recovering Pereira feeling stronger. Leicester full-back Ricardo Pereira has issued an upbeat report as he continues his recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
The Portuguese international suffered the injury during the Foxes’ 4-0 victory over Aston Villa in March but Pereira says he is feeling „more confident“ by the day.
Pereira joined Leicester from Portuguese powerhouses Porto prior to last season and has fast become an important member of the Foxes’ side.
The 26-year-old right-back has missed just five Premier League games in the two seasons with the Midlands club and he has scored five goals in that time.
He was named Leicester’s Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season in 2018-19 and has starred for Brendan Rodgers’s side once again this term.
Leicester are third in the Premier League with nine games of the season remaining and are on the verge of securing a berth in next season’s Champions League.
And with Pereira’s rehabilitation from injury progressing well, Foxes boss Rodgers may be able to call on his trusty right-back sooner rather than later.
„I feel more confident. I feel more strength in my leg,“ Pereira told Leicester’s official club website. „I’m starting to build my muscles again.
„The knee is not as swollen as it was. So, I feel very good. I can move as normal as before when I’m at home and moving so much better. I’m very happy with my rehabilitation for now.
„I’m with a big smile because of that and I’m happy with the development of the injury.“
