Scottish Football Association begin search for Alex McLeish successor
The Scottish FA has begun discussing the recruitment process for appointing a new national team manager.
Talks on Tuesday resulted in chief executive Ian Maxwell being given the go-ahead to take the next steps in finding a successor to Alex McLeish, who was sacked last week after 14 months in charge.
Sky Sports News understands that Maxwell will now look at the availability and suitability of the preferred candidates.
It is also understood that the SFA has already received notes of interest from dozens of candidates across the world which include high profile names.
Scotland U21s boss Scott Gemmill has emerged as an early favourite for the vacancy, along with Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke who said on Friday he has ambitions to manage Scotland „at some stage“.
Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes claims the job should be an ambition for most managers but he is not being drawn on whether it is a role he fancies.
