Thursday’s Man Utd transfer rumours: Alvaro Morata, Louis van Gaal and Nemanja Matic
All the latest Manchester United transfer news and rumours from across the British and European press on Thursday, June 22.
Manchester United will now focus their attention on signing Alvaro Morata, reports The Sun.
They say Cristiano Ronaldo is set to commit to Real Madrid after club president Florentino Perez publicly backed him in his tax fraud charge.
United have a £60m offer ready for Morata and want the striker to join before they leave for their pre-season tour on July 9.
The Daily Mail reports Chelsea are closing in on £35m-rated Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, which has important repercussions for Jose Mourinho.
Should that transfer go ahead, the United boss will move for Nemanja Matic, who could find himself squeezed out at Stamford Bridge by the arrival of Bakayoko.
United have slapped a £20m price tag on full-back Matteo Darmian, who is wanted by Juventus, according to the Daily Star.
Sky sources understand Juve want a right-back to replace Dani Alves, who is in talks to join Manchester City.
Juve are also considering Real Madrid’s Danilo and Monaco’s Fabinho. United signed Darmian from Torino for £12.7m.
The Times reports Louis van Gaal is targeting a return to football more than a year after he was sacked by Manchester United.
He is reportedly seeking a role at the Dutch FA.
AC Milan CEO Marco Fassone insists Gianluigi Donnarumma will stay at the club next season.
The goalkeeper, who last week confirmed he would not be renewing his contract, has been linked with a move to Juventus, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid in the European press.
„Donnarumma is staying here,“ Fassone told Milan TV. „Without doubt, he will stay and next year he will be free to make a decision.
„If anyone wants him they will have to pay his price. We do not need someone to come and offer us £15m or £20m.“Soccer Accumulator Bonus
