Walsall sign goalkeeper Mark Gillespie from Carlisle
Walsall have signed goalkeeper Mark Gillespie from Carlisle.
Gillespie rejected fresh terms at Carlisle to sign a two-year deal at the Sky Bet League One club.
„I’m very excited to be here and get it all sorted,“ Gillespie told the club’s website.
„I really can’t wait to get out there on the training ground and get started, it’s a new chapter for me and I’m excited that it’s here at Walsall, I’m looking forward to the first game and the atmosphere here at the stadium as well“.
The 25-year-old featured 52 times in all competitions last season as Carlisle reached the League Two play-offs.
Gillespie, a product of the Carlisle academy, made his debut for the club as an 18-year-old in 2010 and has since appeared 180 times.
Walsall had been on the lookout for a new goalkeeper since May after losing Neil Etheridge to Championship side Cardiff.
Gillespie becomes manager Jon Whitney’s third signing of the summer following the arrivals of defenders Luke Leahy and Jon Guthrie at the Bank’s Stadium.Soccer Accumulator Bonus
