All the latest Arsenal transfer news and rumours from across the British and foreign press on Friday, May 26.
Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit does not think the Gunners will sign the likes of Karim Benzema or Kylian Mbappe this summer.
He told bwin: “If I am Benzema, I don’t leave Real Madrid for Arsenal. Never. If Madrid want me to stay, I don’t leave.
“Mbappe will never come to Arsenal as he will cost at least 100m euros and you have to break the salary cap and I don’t see Arsenal doing that.”
It was reported yesterday that Bayern Munich’s interest in Alexis Sanchez might have cooled, and the Daily Mail say Arsenal have made the Chilean a new contract offer in a bid to keep him at the club.
It is reported that the offer is around £270,000 a week, with several incentives taking it close to the £300,000 a week that Sanchez wants.
Further talks are apparently planned after the FA Cup final against Chelsea on Saturday.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is an injury doubt for the final, but The Times say Arsenal will hold contract talks with the England international to secure his future.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has just 12 months left on his current deal and Liverpool have reportedly shown interest.
Arsenal youngster Ismael Bennacer has told Onze Mondial that he “cannot afford to play in the Under 23s” and is pushing for a loan move. The 19-year-old spent the second half of the season on loan with Ligue 2 side Tours.
