Graeme Souness and Jamie Redknapp were involved in a lively debate over whether Paul Pogba should have been sent off in Manchester United’s win over Tottenham.
Pogba was booked for a challenge on Dele Alli in the second half when he caught the midfielder with a high foot.
Redknapp said he thought a yellow card was the right decision: „I have done it before, I remember getting a retrospective red card playing for Tottenham against Everton when I caught Tim Cahill.
„He’s trying to step across the ball to protect. It’s not malicious. It looks like a red but I don’t think it is.“
However, Souness disagreed.
„I think it’s a red and there’s not one ounce of doubt. I understand what Jamie is saying but look where the ball is and where his foot is.
„If the referee doesn’t see it as a red card, but he has seen the foul, then he knows nothing about football.“
