Sam Allardyce wants manager’s job to showcase ‘new training plans’
Sam Allardyce has outlined his criteria for his next job, specifically one where he can implement new training methods.
Allardyce, who has steered Sunderland and Crystal Palace away from relegation in recent seasons, has been out of work since being sacked by Everton last year.
He was installed as the favourite to replace David Wagner at Huddersfield among bookmakers, with certain odds placing him as short as 2/1.
However, Allardyce revealed on Goals On Sunday that Huddersfield are not interested in his services and expressed his desire for a role where he can implement new ideas.
„Huddersfield are not considering me, they said, and that’s fine,“ he said.
„Realistically, I have to get a job that I consider worthy of success and one where I can win football matches.
„If both parties talk together and we both enjoy the conversation going forward and I can show them to new training plans I’ve been working on, then it would come along and I’d say yes.
„But it’s not in my hands and it’s about who fancies me. I can’t determine if and when I get a job.“
Allardyce is rarely out of work at this time of year as usually a Premier League club has called on his services by this point.
„I’ve normally got a job by this time,“ he joked.
„Normally I send the wife to Dubai for New Year as when I book it, by the time we’re due to go I’ve got another job and I let her go on her own. But this time I was lucky enough to be in Dubai.“
