Shaw says Pogba can be the best. Luke Shaw has praised Paul Pogba and believes his Manchester United colleague has all the attributes required to be „the best midfielder in the world.“
Pogba left United to join Juventus in 2012 after he failed to break into the team at Old Trafford but the Frenchman returned to his former club for an eye-watering £89.3m in 2016.
The powerful 27-year-old has shown glimpses of brilliance since his return but his inconsistent form has frequently seen him linked with a move away from Manchester.
Pogba, who was part of France’s World Cup-winning team in 2018, played 35 times for the Red Devils in the Premier League last season but injuries have restricted him to just five league starts in the current campaign.
Shaw joined United from Southampton in 2014. Making 132 appearances for the club in all competitions and has also been capped eight times by England.
Speaking to United’s official website, the left-back described the challenge of facing Pogba in training, admitting the midfielder’s talent means he often struggles to handle him.
„Actually, probably the hardest player to get the ball off is Paul,“ Shaw said. „He’s so big, strong, he’s got quick feet. To be fair, he’s got everything to be the best midfielder in the world.
„You could ask any player in the team about that. I’d have to pick Paul as the toughest one to train against as well because it’s so tough to get the ball off him.“
He added: „He knows how to shield it away and he’s also got the best quality to deliver shots and passes too“.
