Wednesday’s Manchester United transfer rumours: Ivan Perisic, Kostas Manolas and Philippe Coutinho
The latest transfer news and rumours from Manchester United on Wednesday, January 9 featuring
Ivan Perisic could finally become a Manchester United player at the end of the season with Inter Milan looking to raise cash to fund a move for Luka Modric, according to The Sun.
Perisic recently signed a new deal until 2022 but could be let go for a reported £31m and recently spoke of a Premier League move, saying: „I have always said that [playing in the Premier League] is my dream. In football everything is possible, we will see in the future. Now, I’m focusing on Inter.“
Manchester United will have to battle with Barcelona and Juventus for the signing of Roma defender Kostas Manolas, the Express reports.
The two European heavyweights will be looking to the Greece international to cope with player departures with Manolas’ release clause reportedly around £32m.
The same newspaper also says Manchester United have opened talks with Barcelona over ex-Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho.
Chelsea, Manchester City and PSG are also said to be interested in the Brazilian, although it is unclear if he wants to leave the La Liga club.
Manchester United could make an exception to their transfer policy if Kalidou Koulibaly is available in January, according to France Football
It is claimed that United want to wait until the summer for major transfers when their long-term managerial picture will become clearer, but could move if one of their key targets becomes available. Koulibaly is valued at around €100m (£90m).
Jerome Boateng has also said that he will not be moving in January as Bild reports that Man Utd are continuing to monitor his situation.
He told the German publication: „A change this winter is out of the question for me. It was a difficult year for me. I fell short of my expectations and I’m not happy with that.“
And finally, Ander Herrera looks set to sign a new deal for Manchester United after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer convinced him to stay despite interest from Athletic Bilbao, The Sun claims.
The Spaniard’s contract expires at the end of the season and was set for a move back to his home country, although the current caretaker manager wants him to stay.
